November 04 Renovations......Because we are living in such an old house (over 100 yrs old), we have decided to start some greatly needed renovations. A friend of Dione's from work has been chosen to go through with the kitchen renovation, and we have been helping him out.
We have a well under the kitchen. We have never been too sure of the size of the well nor where the water comes from as there is not much, so we have braved it into the well with a torch and a camera to investigate! We have discovered a beautiful almost 3x7m room with an arched roof. Now the plan is to block off all pipes which lead into the well and make an opening to the garden! Then the well will be turned into a wine celler!
It is amazing what you can find in these old houses. Edu's father and uncle recall a room under the house which was used as a bunker during the war! This may be it!
